Exploring Dusky & Breaksea Sounds

Working with our sister company Fiordland Charters, we depart Queenstown we head South West over Mavora Lakes and Te Anau before flying into Fiordland National Park. Here we encounter the wonders of Te Anau and Manapouri before we enter Dusky & Breaksea Sounds for a landing in the heart of of this massive wilderness area where rugged peaks and steep forested valleys give way to twisting hidden inlets.
On arrival, we meet with the MV Pembroke to start a day of discovery. At sixty feet long and sixty tonnes, the Charter boat MV Pembroke is a classic small ship with a pure Fiordland pedigree, having spent most of her time since being launched in 1962 by the New Zealand Government to introduce tourists to the splendors of New Zealand's waterways and coastal scenery.
The MV Pembroke was built to the highest specifications and was assiduously maintained without regard to cost by the New Zealand Government, until her sale and conversion to a dive charter boat in 1985. In 1997 the Pembroke was taken to Auckland and completely refitted and upgraded, before being purchased in 2004 by a group of enthusiasts with the vision and ambition to provide a unique opportunity to enjoy the most remote areas of Fiordland.

While we are in the sounds you have the opportunity to experience fishing, diving, relaxing and exploring the Sound. On board the MV Pembroke you will enjoy a lunch with fine fresh seafood caught from the sounds that day and the very best local wine to match. Frequent views of Dolphins, Penguins and seals are common. This experience is truly a memorable day out in paradise!
