Where to find us:
We operate from the Queenstown Airport and are located at 1 Sir Henry Wigley Drive. Make a left at the roundabout to enter the airport. You may then access our base via the Rental Car carpark – the left hand turn just after turning left at the roundabout. There is no cost to enter the carpack, and the barrier arm will lift automatically when you reach it. Drive through the barrier arm, park on our allocated spaces 267, 266 and 265, and you’ll find our office at the western end of the carpark down a marked path. Alternatively, let us find you. Heli Tours offers courtesy transport between Queenstown accommodations and our base.
Our Aircraft:
We operate Eurocopter “Squirrel” type Helicopters, they accomodate up to 6 Passengers, open cockpit with fantastic visibility. Also Hughes 500 type Helicopters which can accomodate up to 4Passengers, these are great for commercial work but also scenic flights. Our aircraft are maintained to an exceptional standard under CAA rules and regulations. These are fitted with the very latest in technology with GPS, Satellite phone, “Live” Satellite tracking, ELT, multiple VHF radios, pilot to passenger intercom, leather seats, survival and First aid kits and unobstructed views. We also have the latest carbon fibre cargo pod available too. These are the most widely used Helicopter in the world for passenger transport, search and rescue, aerial support and commercial operations with a proven safety record for over 20years.
Our Pilot’s:
With local experienced Pilot’s who have extensive knowlege in this mountain environment in and around Queenstown, Fiordland and Canterbury. All our Pilot’s hold a NZ Commerical Helicopter pilot license and are regularly audited by the CAA to meet strict peformance checks for part 135 operations. Also our Pilots all conduct the HUET (Helicopter Underwater Emergency Training) course for added safety.
Insurance: Heli Tours has Insurance policies for all our Helicopters in full. Also we have Full insurance for public liability and third party of $10million NZD.

Conservation:
Heli Tours is proud to be a Department of Conservation approved business. The Department of Conservation are the guardians of over 7 million acres of pristine natural environments throughout New Zealand . As an approved business Heli Tours has multiple permits that allow us to “park up” amongst these pristine environments and show you the best that NZ has to offer. Further to this a contribution from all fares paid goes back to the Department so they can continue to support conservation. Heli Tours pilot’s have worked with DoC for over 10 years on projects in the High Country surrounding Queenstown and looks forward to the future ahead working with the Department.
Heli Tours is part of the Queenstown Biodiesel consortium, this means we are part of a small group of Queenstown businesses using Biodiesel in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint.
