Coronet Ski Field opens 2014 season
Tue, 10th Jun 2014
Last weekend Coronet Peak ski field became the first in Australasia to open last weekend with a solid 30cm snow base. The mountain opened on schedule and in line with last years opening date, but only thanks to it's impressive snow making technology. Although the region received a significant snow fall in late may the temperature was still to warm to prevent it from melting away. Around 600 eager skiers and snowboarders attended the inaugural days riding, opening with a 'celebratory spray of Amisfield bubbles'. With other ski fields in the region due to open in the next couple of weeks, there is certainly plenty to celebrate! Helitours offer a great selection of heli-skiing and ski field transfers in the Queenstown, wanaka and Mt Cook region. Or if you want to get amongst the snow all year ound why not check out our glacier flights?
