Rippled earth kayaks started operating in 2007 when owner operator Sam finished his studies at Lincoln University. Previous to this he went about obtaining the various consents, concessions and licenses to operate kayaking tours out to the Pigeon and Pig island bird sanctuaries. With spectacular mountain scenery, secluded bays and forested shorelines these islands make for some of the best kayaking around. At the same time Sam gets to use his Ecology degree by explaining the natural features encountered on the tour.

A half day kayaking tour out to Pigeon island, leaving twice daily from Queenstown at 8am or 1pm and from Glenorchy at 8.45am or 1.45pm

Sixty feet long and sixty tonnes, the Charter boat MV Pembroke is a classic small ship with a pure Fiordland pedigree, having spent most of her time since being launched in 1962 by the New Zealand Government to introduce tourists to the splendors of New Zealand's waterways and coastal scenery.

The MV Pembroke was built to the highest specifications and was assiduously maintained without regard to cost by the New Zealand Government, until her sale and conversion to a dive charter boat in 1985. In 1997 the Pembroke was taken to Auckland and completely refitted and upgraded, before being purchased in 2004 by a group of enthusiasts with the vision and ambition to provide a unique opportunity to enjoy the most remote areas of Fiordland.
